Department of Economics Alumni
Economics Alumni Network
The aim of the Network is to create opportunities for MSc alumni to meet, hear interesting speakers and stay in touch with the Department and the School.
The Network is part of a broader Economics Department Initiative geared to raising funds for PhD scholarships and salaries at a level that will allow LSE
to contend for academic talent with the top US departments.
Once a year the Department hosts an ‘Internship and Networking Evening' for our current MSc Students to meet prospective intern employees,
and for our alumni to gather and network. This is an informal opportunity to meet others in similar fields with similar interests and is always a great success.
Economics MSc alumni are invited to take part in this newly established Economics Alumni Network, which has over 250 members already.
If you would like to participate in the activities of the network, please make sure your details are updated with Alumni
Relations at the following link:
http://www.lse.ac.uk/collections/alumniRelations/updatingYourDetails.htm. We are always interested to keep in touch with our alumni, so please do keep your details up to date.
Further information on Alumni Relations can be found at Alumni Relations.

Economics Department Initiative
As a flagship department of the LSE, the Department of Economics is the top ranked economics department in Europe and among the top 15 departments
worldwide. The foundation of a world-renowned department rests upon a combination of outstanding faculty and top-flight PhD students who wish to work
with and learn from leading scholars in their fields. This Economics initiative is aimed at helping us to compete with leading US departments in
order to secure our place on the world stage.
The recruitment and retention of top quality economists is essential to diminishing the gap between LSE and the leading US departments.
We are grateful to those who have already contributed to the Economics Initiative. In particular, we want to thank Elisabeth Scitovsky,
Adam Broadbent, David T Beers, Emily Goustis, Johannes Huth, Martin J Newson, Graham Shore, and Phoebus Theologites. We hope that these welcome developments will be the first of many.

Launch of the Economics Alumni Network & Economics Department Initiative
Professor Partha Dasgupta, BP Visiting Professor, launched this new development in May 2004 with a lecture for Economics MSc alumni on Economic Performance and the Idea of Social Capital.
The Economics Alumni Network will enhance the relationship between the Department and former students. This will provide an opportunity for alumni to keep in touch through networking events, dedicated seminars and lectures geared toward keeping abreast of current research.
Professor John Sutton, convenor of Economics and chair of this first lecture, said: 'The Initiative is essential to sustaining the competitiveness of the Department of Economics. Our teaching programmes are tremendously important to us, and we are pleased that our first project will bring together current and past MSc students. We are grateful for the support of our alumni, and to the many others who have already contributed to the Initiative.'
